It is unfortunate that most of  you will look at this title and immediately think of the Nelson Mandela movie…at least if you have lived in the United States.

However, long before this poem got its fame from a movie title it held a special place in my heart. I feel this poem embodies the struggle that is called life. Whether its gracefullyacknowledging defeat  or understanding that this life is the only chance you have, this poem covers it all.

This poem is also an essential for the soul of an African entrepreneur. I am sure many can relate to bludgeoning defeat or being slighted by chance. However, the most important thing that I hope you pick from this poem is that you are the master of your fate and the captain of your soul. Regardless of the challenges and disappointments that come along with being a broke entrepreneur, it is you, ultimately who decides where and how the journey ends. So my advice to you- make it a good one!
